GoodSync Enterprise 8.1.5.7

GoodSync 8.1.5.7

GoodSync Enterprise offers a unique, next-generation synchronization and backup solution that is entirely file-based.

It enables you to synchronize and backup employee folders and files to a USB disk, a network drive or even a remote server accessible via the Internet. It simplifies the traditional, cumbersome data backup and restore process and lets you pick and choose critical files and folders to synchronize or back up right to disk, which means you have readily accessible media.

You don't have to waste space or use costly tapes and platters to store files you don't need. This means you no longer have to rely on the cumbersome backup of entire hard drives and GBs of data to such media, which is very costly. With GoodSync Enterprise, companies can quickly implement a full-featured, affordable synchronization and backup solution.

GoodSync Enterprise uses an innovative synchronization algorithm to prevent unintentional file deletion and data loss and to eliminate duplicate files.

Automatic, Intelligent File Synchronization and Backup
  • True bi-directional synchronization to prevent data loss - Files are copied in two directions (between source and target), keeping the two locations completely in sync with each other.
  • One-way synchronization for backups - Provides an easy and reliable backup solution that is very convenient and easy to setup.
  • Fresh, intact data always available for your employees - Ensures working files are always current for all employees throughout the enterprise. For example, you can set up GoodSync Enterprise to automatically sync on logon and logoff, or, you can set up your employee files to be locally available on every computer and always be current on a centralized company server.
  • Automatic change detection and conflict resolution - GoodSync Enterprise automatically detects and synchronizes creation, deletion, and all other changes in folders, subfolders, and files. For real time monitoring, it also automatically displays all changes, conflicts, and other actions. Automated resolution of conflicts is also available.
  • Fast and less resource intensive - Performs much faster than other synchronization programs and takes less memory. To demonstrate, GoodSync Enterprise can analyze a job with 1M files and folders on each side in less than 10 minutes on only 500 Mb of memory. The reasons are three-fold:
    • File-based approach allows you to select the most critical files and folders to be synchronized or backed up. There is no need to go through the time-consuming process of syncing or backing up all data, which may include superfluous files like temp files, etc.
    • Synchronizing directly to disk, which is much faster than the traditional tape approach.
    • Up-front analysis that detects and synchronizes only those files that have actually changed, which take less memory to process.
  • Complete and flexible control over the files you sync or backup - Eliminates the need to store superfluous data like temp files, etc. Selective file synchronization allows you to easily apply filters to include or exclude files from synchronization based on name pattern, size, and modification time.
  • Helpful user interface - Provides convenient monitoring of job status and makes visual comparison of files very easy.
  • Remote folder support - Provides automatic reconnect for remote folders if they lose connection during analyze or sync processes.
  • Reliable, intelligent sync algorithm - Ensures correct propagation of changes and file deletions to synchronized locations even in chained synchronizations (when the contents of several folders in multiple locations or devices are synchronized in sequence.)
  • Remote sync for highly available data - Provides a mechanism of synchronization across the Internet in geographically remote locations allowing for high redundancy and survivability while keeping data readily accessible.
Flexible, Convenient and Automated Administration
  • Job scheduling - Allows you to schedule sync jobs for convenience and efficiency. A sync job can be created and started using the GoodSync Enterprise command line. This allows you to easily call GoodSync Enterprise from batch files as well as any other program. Also GoodSync Enterprise can be easily run from the Windows Task Scheduler.
  • Ability to automatically start analysis or sync on a specified event - Lets you configure GoodSync Enterprise to start based on a timer, a pre-defined schedule, when a portable disk is detected, when GoodSync Enterprise starts or exits, etc.
  • Non-disruptive usage and execution - Offers the ability to run in the 'background' on employee computers for non-disruptive operations. Administrators can easily create pre-programmed jobs for which GoodSync Enterprise is completely hidden from users.
  • Detailed action logs, change reports and email capability - All changes are captured and reported including file modifications. GoodSync Enterprise logs all file operations to a file and on screen and provides a change report for convenient tracking and analysis. It also provides the option to send email with synchronization session results, once the sync session has been completed.
  • Ability to set up global sync jobs - You can easily add environment variables to folder paths to set up one set of jobs that would work for all employees. For example, you can set up a job that automatically syncs employee profiles to the backup server.
  • Creation and use of job templates - Allows you to pre-program the most popular jobs using Job Templates. These templates make it faster for administrators to create new jobs as well as increase the ease of use for your employees if they will run their own sync jobs.
  • Saving deleted files - If required, lets you automatically save a copy of files that are about to be replaced when syncing. This setting allows you to always maintain the last two versions of any file.
Fast, Easy Installation and Deployment across the Enterprise
  • Automated installation - For fast, non-disruptive, mass rollout across the enterprise. Can be deployed in minutes.
  • Centralized installation and license activation - Can be easily performed centrally for individual workstations throughout the enterprise with command-line options.
  • Convenient, automation tools for enterprise deployment - Provides automation tools via command line, which are ideal for automating a variety of sync and backup tasks as well as file operations on a variety of file systems.
Support for a Variety of Transfer Protocols including Secure, Encrypted Channels
  • Can sync any two folders located on Windows Local Disk, Windows Network Server (SMB), WebDAV server, Secure FTP (SSH) server, Amazon S3 server.
  • Syncs with your Windows Mobile Phone and Pocket PC device (Windows CE) to desktop
  • Supports several ways to protect and encrypt files including SFTP, WebDAV over SSL. For example, if you backup to Secure FTP or WebDAV + SSL online file systems then all files transferred and authentication passwords are encrypted en route.
Integration with Active Directory
  • Fully deployable from Active Directory - Can synchronize or back up a large number of computers connected to the domain controller.
  • Ability to use Windows environment variables in file and folder paths - Lets you write one script flexible enough to be deployed for every enterprise user.
  • Saving of log files - To a specified location or emailed through the default MAPI client. Scripts are available to send synchronization log via an SMTP server.
  • Script execution before or after sync or backup - The command-line version, used in batch files or VBScript, can be combined with other scripts to execute before or after a sync or backup job.
  • Scheduling - Synchronization or backup can be scheduled on the workstation through Active Directory.
